Add a LinkedIn background photo to your personal profile
In June 2014, LinkedIn finally woke up and implemented a feature that allows you the ability for users to add a background photo to their personal profiles. This is for appearance purposes only at this point, but that is what we are looking at to use to our advantage. You can give your LinkedIn profile a little bit more personality by adding a background photo that makes you stand out a little bit more when someone (hopefully a recruiter) looks at your profile. Important: Just keep in mind LinkedIn is a professional social network, so choose your background photo carefully.
How to add a background profile?
To add a background image to your LinkedIn profile, click on Profile / Edit Profile.
Click Edit Background, which appears above the top section of your profile, but you need to hover with your mouse cursor in the right area.
Click on “Edit Background” and then choose from the available options.
Here you can see that I have the options “save”, Change Image”, and “Remove Image”.
LinkedIn specifies that your cover photo must be a JPG, PNG, or GIF file under 8 MB in size. The profile background image should have a size of 1400 x 425 pixels for the best look.
When selecting a background image my recommendation is that simple is better – unless you are like an artist or marketing guru or if you have your own business and select a related image accordingly. In my case you can see that I selected the image of a computer keyboard.
