You probably heard this during a job interview before: Tell me about yourself. I get asked this question during interviews, but I also use it when interviewing people for positions I have open. I am sure there are different reasons why this question (or better: request) comes up during interviews. Personally, when I ask job applicants to tell me a bit about them self I use it to break the ice and to get the applicant started. I am not particularly looking for a deep insight about their life – be it personal or professional. Every job applicant is different, but I often get exactly the same type of answer and that is what I am going to talk about in this brief video.
While this does not necessarily answer the question what to talk about in detail, it actually gives you a starting point of what not to do when being asked to tell a little bit about yourself.
